Mission Statement - Soroptimist International of Reno
Soroptimist International of Reno is part of an International volunteer service organization for business and professional women who work to improve the lives of women and children with emphasis on girls in our local community and throughout the world. We will maintain high ethical standards in business, professions and other aspects of life. We will develop a spirit of friendship and unity among Soroptimists of all countries.
About Soroptimist International of Reno
Since 1942, Soroptimist International Reno has been providing volunteer services and financial aid to the women and families of Northern Nevada. With a membership ranging over the years between 25-50 active members, Soroptimist International of Reno has made up in talent and dedication what we may have lacked in size.
In addition to providing educational scholarships to women in Reno on an annual basis, Soroptimist International of Reno members donate valuable time in volunteering for local organizations such at The Food Bank of Northern Nevada, the Salvation Army, STEP2, and Ally’s Prom Closet.
In 2002, Soroptimist International of Reno was recognized as the top non-profit organization in the State of Nevada and won the Governor’s Points of Light Award.

Sierra Nevada Region Soroptimist represent over 2200 members in 60 clubs located from Sacramento north to Yreka and almost all of the state of Nevada. (If you are from outside this area we can put you in touch with Soroptimists in your area.) Through Soroptimist International we join nearly 100,000 members in 113 countries as "A Global Voice for Women." Together we make a difference through Awareness, Advocacy and Action. We work together to for the betterment of our communities and our world with a major focus on issues affecting women and children.
